The Motorola Droid X is the next big Android smartphone launch. The Droid X launches on July 15th on Verizon. Today online phone retailer Wirefly announced to start offering the Droid X at midnight on July 15th.
"There is currently such a huge demand for Android-powered smartphones that they fly off Wirefly's virtual shelves the moment they hit the market," said Andy Zeinfeld, chief executive officer of Simplexity, parent company of Wirefly.com. "We expect the DROID X to be just as popular and are excited to offer this highly-touted device from Verizon Wireless to our millions of valued customers on the official launch."
Zeinfeld added, “Our sale kicks off at 12:01 am PST on July 15 – many hours before retail stores open their doors - so those who want to secure their own DROID X won’t have to wait until sunrise to order it.”
Wirefly did not reveal the pricing for the Droid X yet. Verizon offers the Droid X for $199.99 with new 2-year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate. Wirefly usually does not require you to deal with mail-in rebates.
The Droid X is now on sale on Wirefly for only $179.99.
Since demand is high for the Droid X it makes sense to check in to Wirefly at midnight to see what the offer is. You always can go to a Verizon store later, albeit risking to stand in line.
The Droid X has a 4.3-inch screen and will get the Android 2.2 update this summer. The device is Flash compatible, unlike the iPhone 4. Other features include a dual-flash 8MP digital camera.
The camera can also record HD video and has DLNA and HDMI connectivity. The processor inside the handset is a 1GHz unit and it has 3G Mobile Hotspot access.
