Signs appear that indicate that the new batch of $99 HP TouchPads are arriving.

End of August HP announced that they will build more TouchPads and sell them on the HP Online Store. The new TouchPads would arrive in weeks. HP did not specify how many units they are going to build. From what we understand, HP is working with suppliers to use up the existing component stocks to build the final batch of TouchPads. There are now signs that the first new TouchPads are arriving in the United States.

A couple days ago we reported about a leaked email that informs HP employees that they can buy the a $99 TouchPad on September 28 in the employee only purchase program. Yesterday OnSale starting an interesting offer to customers that ordered a TouchPad on Sunday, August 21 and whose orders got cancelled. OnSale says that they have worked closely with HP to get additional TouchPad inventory. OnSale has only the 32GB TouchPad now available. Not the 16GB model. At $149.99 the 32GB TouchPad is though a great deal.

What I see here is that HP is first trying to make good on their employees who missed out on a $99 TouchPad and on cancelled orders from retailers. The question is will there be any TouchPad inventory left to go on sale on the HP Store?

A possibly bad sign is that the HP Store removed the Tablet product pages and now sells HP TouchPad accessories at a discount. We keep monitoring the situation. If there are TouchPads left than they might be available soon after September 28.

Update:
OnSale updated customers over the weekend that they are now sold out again of 32GB TouchPads.
