It has been over a week since HP employees got the chance to buy a $99 TouchPad from the new batch.

Many consumers are awaiting the release of the new batch of HP TouchPads that HP promised weeks ago. Last week the HP employees already could buy the 16GB HP TouchPad for $99.99 and the 32GB TouchPad for $149.99. There was a huge run on the offered tablets taking the servers down, which raised concerns if any TouchPads are left for waiting consumers. A recently discovered 16GB TouchPad product page is stirring rumors that HP is raising the price to $219.99 and is not selling the TouchPad at a loss anymore. See screen shot above. The page is not linked, but you can find it when you search for the HP part number of the TouchPad: FB355UA#ABA.

I just hope for HP that it is not going to sell the 16GB TouchPad for the new high price of $219.99. The whole story is already strange enough (i mean, making more products to sell at a loss after clearing inventory with a fire sale? ). The interest in the $99 TouchPad is though still very high. An indicator for this is the high number of tweets each day on hashtag #foundtp. HP needs to pull through this mess and finally sell the last batch of $99 TouchPads and then this is the end of the story. The next event to score bargain tablets is coming up soon anyway. Black Friday 2011 is anticipated to bring tons of bargain HoneyComb Tablets.
