Acer announced the Acer S3 Ultrabook pricing and release date. The Ultrabook will ship this week for $899 list.

Intel has succeeded in pushing Ultrabook makers to offer the first wave of Ultrabooks for under $1,000. Acer announced today that the Acer S3 Ultrabook has a suggested retail price of $899 and that it will go on sale this week.

Specifically we talk about the Acer Aspire S3-951. This featherweight 13.3-inch Ultrabook powers on instantly, connects to the Web in seconds and provides up to 50 days of stand-by time, or 6 hours of continuous usage. As slim and easy to carry as a magazine, it includes a powerful Intel Core i5 Processor, speedy solid state drive for quickly booting the operating system, roomy hard drive, and essential USB and HDMI ports. After 8 hours of inactivity, the Aspire S3 Series will enter Deep Sleep mode, from which it will resume in 6 seconds.

With these energy-conscious innovations, the battery life lasts up to 50 days – even longer than regular mobile phone batteries. All-day usability is delivered with an integrated long-life battery that delivers up to 6 hours of computing time.

Other specifications of the Acer S3-0951 include 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 3000, 20GB SSD, 320GB HDD and 13.3-inch screen with 1,366x788px.

Measurements of the Acer S3-951 are 12.59 inches by 8.52-inches by .51 to.68-inches. The weight is 2.98lbs.

The Acer S3 is $100 less than the entry-level MacBook Air. This should drive very nice sales of this ultra-thin Windows laptop. I could even imagine that it sells out. Ultrabook manufacturers have limited the production to 50,000 units according to a supply chain report. If you want an Ultrabook, then pre-order it today.
