Walmart releases new iPad and iPhone Apps in time for Black Friday

Walmart's @WalmartLabs releases new mobile apps that make shopping in Walmart stores and online at seemless.

Walmart announced new versions of their mobile apps today. For the first time Walmart also releases an iPad app. Walmart’s first-ever iPad application delivers a rich experience that allows you to browse, search and purchase your favorite items online, as well as the ability to browse the inventory of your local store from the comfort of your home.

The Walmart iPhone application features new updates that include smart shopping lists with integrated access to manufacturers' coupons and support for QR code scanning.

“Today, mobile allows us to have a similar personal relationship with our customers that Sam Walton had with his customers 50 years ago when he opened the first Walmart store,” said Gibu Thomas, Walmart’s senior vice president of mobile and digital. “We can greet each of our customers by name, guide them through our stores, and give them product recommendations and real-time savings — all from their mobile devices.”

Especially the Walmart iPhone app is going to be a must have when you head out to do your Black Friday shopping. Walmart clearly is embracing online and mobile shopping much more this Holiday season. See the latest on what Walmart has planned for the release of the Walmart Black Friday Ad.

I just downloaded and tested the Walmart iPad app and it is pretty neat. Browsing products is simple and fast and looks attractive. You can set your local Walmart store and then for instance see what the bestsellers are specifically in your store.

The Walmart iPad app is available now for download in the iTunes Store. The Walmart iPhone app is coming soon. Via Walmart Mobile Apps page.
