Touchpad grabs one small win before dying

If HP could find a way to leave the Touchpad on the market at the $99 to $149 the tablets have been selling for recently it might have a winner on its hands. According to the latest statistics from the NPD group the Touchpad has the second place in market share behind the iPad in the tablet realm.

That is a big deal considering that Android tablets have been popular. It seems that the loss on the Touchpad is too much for HP to bear though and once the supply of tablets runs out you can bet they will be gone forever. I would also wager most of them are already running Android that are in the wild now.

HP has taken a beating with WebOS and now faces the decision to keep the failing OS and try to cram it into printers or just take the gigantic loss of money spent on Palm and call it a day. I think WebOS in printers is not going to work either; no one wants a printer with apps today.
