Apple to ship 11 Million iPad 2 and iPad 3 Tablets in Q1 2012 says Digitimes Report

Asian Supply Chain outlet predicts a 30% tablet PC shipment decline 1st quarter of 2012. Apple will ship most of the tablets.

Digitimes put out some global tablet shipment numbers for Q1 2012. The report says that about 15 million tablets will ship this quarter, which is a decline of 30% compared to the previous quarter.

Tablet shipments will consist of 11 million iPad 2 and iPad 3 units as well as 3.97 million non-iPad tablet PCs which will decrease by 50.8% on quarter and include 1.5 million Kindle Fires and 300,000 Nook Tablets, Digitimes Research said. Digitimes assumes that Apple is already shipping the iPad 3 in March. So far we only unofficially know that Apple will announce the Apple iPad 3 on March 7. We do not know how soon the iPad 3 is going on sale.

The numbers also show that the iPad is still the number one tablet by far.
