After the failed AT&T takeover, T-Mobile USA needs to invest in LTE to stay competitive and become attractive again.

Deutsche Telekom is still seeking a solution for T-Mobile USA, after the AT&T buyout failed last year. T-Mobile USA is the only major carrier in the USA without the iPhone and it has lost 1.65 million subscribers in 2011 mostly because of that.

Bloomberg reports that Deutsche Telekom invests an additional $1.4 billion to roll out LTE. Overall T-Mobile USA plans to spend $4 billion over the next two years on the infrastructure. Deutsche Telekom has no other chance than to invest to keep T-Mobile USA attractive to customers and maybe to the a new buyer.
