8GB iPad 2 joins iPad 3 on March 7 to Attack Low End Tablet Market

Apple is supposed to release an 8GB iPad 2 along with the iPad 3 on March 7th.

Apple is announcing the iPad 3 on March 7th. This is official. Today Digitimes reports that Apple might have a little surprise for Amazon and Barnes & Nobles. According to the report Apple is releasing an 8GB iPad 2 with a lower price point.

The iPad 3 with Retina Display is supposed to be released in 16GB and 32GB configurations. 

For normal use 8GB are plenty storage. If Apple is going to offer the 8GB iPad at $399 the low end tablets have more pressure to deliver value. The Kindle Fire sells for $199, but only has a 7-inch display and the user experience and number of apps on the iPad 2 is hard to beat.
