Apple is possibly calling the new iPad 3 iPad HD.

Apple will unveil the iPad 3 or shall we say iPad HD on March 7. Gizmodo has a new report that carries some hints that Apple is actually naming the new iPad iPad HD instead of iPad 3. This could make sense as Apple is seen to keep the iPad 2 on the market. Apple is selling the current iPad as iPad 2 but might drop the 2 after the introduction of the iPad HD. To differentiate the new iPad with the Retina display it makes sense to name it iPad HD.

Gizmodo reports about Apple accessory maker Griffin and Belkin referring to the new iPad as iPad HD in their part listing. Additionally they received an access log from a web site showing accesses from a device named iPad HD.

Yesterday we reported about a rumor that Apple is going to launch a cheaper 8GB iPad 2 along with the iPad HD next week.
