ICS is here for G9 users

We have some good news this week for owners of the Archos G9 Android tablet. Archos has announced that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update is now rolling out OTA to tablet owners. To perform the update the user just needs to look for the notification "A" in the lower right-hand corner of the tablet, and then tap it.

Once that icon is pressed, the update will download and then install. The update will bring a number of new features including faster web browsing, better multitasking, rich notifications, and customizable home screens. Users will also get resizable widgets to enhance social media integration. Android 4.0 also offers improved text input and spell checking along with a dynamic voice input engine.

Archos also included some special items in the update just for G9 users including support for full 1080p video with most codecs, movies, and TV shows. Descriptions and subtitles now automatically download and wireless content can be shared between the tablet and any computer or DLNA device. If you own one of these tablets and have applied the update, let us know how it worked out for you.
