Groupon Settles Expiration Date Lawsuits For $8.5 Million

Groupon settles but admits no wrong

Groupon was hit with a number of lawsuits around the country, which are all consolidated in federal court in San Diego. The lawsuit stemmed from what users of Groupon claimed were offers with expiration dates that violated consumer protection laws. Groupon has not admitted any liability in the case, but it has offered a settlement.

Groupon has set aside $8.5 million to settle all the suits. People that purchased Groupon coupons between November 2008 and December 1, 2011 are covered in the settlement. They can either get a refund of the purchase price or use the coupons even if the expiration date has passed.
