Ultrabooks to get cheaper this year

I think all the books are very interesting from a portability perspective, but they have failed to grab the interest of consumers in a big way so far. Some of that is because the cheapest ultrabook is about $800 today, but according to Intel that will change.

Intel has announced that 75 ultrabook designs are coming with low-end units priced at $699. There is no timeframe for detail offered on any of the machines other than some will feature hybrid designs and others will have touchscreens to support Windows 8. The Windows 8 expected to land later this year, we may not see any these new machines for months to come.
