HTC takes a beating, can it keep on ticking?

HTC's profits have taken a beating. The company has announced a 70% drop in Q1 profit thanks to intense competition from Apple and Samsung in the smartphone realm. It has been a while since HTC had a significantly popular smartphone or tablet to lure in consumers.

HTC is relying on its HTC One series of devices with improved cameras and better music experience to woo consumers. I certainly don't see that helping to a large extent, a smartphone lives and dies by the hardware and the user experience and that is where HTC is lacking.
