Sprint unveiled the first 4G phone for the United States with the HTC EVO 4G powered by Android 2.1. The HTC EVO 4G will come to the Sprint WiMAX network this Summer.
Verizon Wireless is also working on their 4G Network and rumors are circulating since last year that an iPhone 4G is coming to the 4G Verizon Wireless Network.

Verizon Wireless 4G network is based on LTE Technology (Long Term Evolution). The speeds are similar to WiMAX with 10x that of 3G. Verizon Wireless expects to commercially launch its 4G LTE network in up to 30 markets in 2010, covering 100 million people.

Apple is not necessarily known to be first to adopt new network technology. Remember that the iPhone launched without 3G, despite 3G basically being already pretty standard in 2007. On the other hand the market has changed. Android and Windows 7 Mobile are putting pressure on Apple to keep on innovating and stay ahead with the iPhone. The Google versus Apple feud should also push Apple to stay ahead of Android and adopt 4G.

Possibly we see two new iPhones in 2010, one for Verizon with 4G LTE and one for AT&T. Both would offer new features (current predictions). More iPhone 4G Rumors.
