Apple drops 4G from iPad Name Abroad

Apple has been spotted to replace 4G with Cellular in the new iPad name outside of the US where it does not work with local 4G networks.

Apple should have never marketed the new iPad with 4G connectivity abroad. The 4G LTE chip in the new iPad Wi-fi 4G is only working with US frequencies. A fact that just slowly got clear after the launch of the new iPad. After lots of consumer complaints around the world, Apple finally changes the name of the iPad Wi-Fi + 4G to Wi-Fi + Cellular.

End of the year, we might see new iPads with the Qualcomm multi-mode LTE chip that also work with 4G networks around the world.

Most Apple Stores have changed the name already according to 9to5Mac. The German Apple Store is still carrying the old moniker.
