The hacking of Mat Honan's iCloud account is getting huge attention. The hack was not based on a security flaw or high tech break-in, it was just good old Social Hacking, made famous by legendary hacker Kevin Mitnick.

Mat Honan, former Gizmodo senior reporter and now back at Wired Magazine has been hacked badly. The hacker got in via his iCloud account and wiped his iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air. The hacker also took control over his Twitter account.

The story on getting everything back sounds like a real pain. Mat Honan found out what happened through contact with the alleged hacker. The hacker got in via Apple's support desk. They used social hacking methods to get the iCloud password reset.

Mat Honan will report the full story today on Wired. He is still working on recovering everything. The hack happened on the 3rd. Via Mat Honan's blog.
