The HTC Evo has been a huge success for Sprint, and the device isn't even out in stores yet. While the Evo means big things for the formerly ailing carrier, it could also herald a change for the rest of us. 4G is substantially faster than 3G, which means that bandwidth usage will be an even larger problem with the Evo than it is with the iPhone.
Don't Miss: The best Deal on a new Samsung Galaxy S8
MobileCrunch reports that, on March 31, all Sprint retail employees will attend a company wide “top secret” mandatory meeting. We don't know what it is for, but the current scuttlebutt hints at the HTC Evo. Most new phone releases don't necessitate a meeting like this, which has lead to murmurs that the Evo's launch will lead to new data plan pricing for Sprint.
If that is the case, tomorrow's meeting may be the unofficial death knell for unlimited data plans. Whatever the truth turns out to be, it's fairly likely that the details of this meeting will leak out almost as soon as it is order. There's no way Sprint can keep all their retail employees quiet.
