Black Friday shopping to blame

Research firm NPD DisplaySearch has announced that for Q4 2012 in North America tablets will out shipped notebook computers. The research firm is attributing tablets out shipping notebooks for the first time ever to Black Friday shopping.

The research firm expects 21.5 million tablets to ship in Q4 across North America. The number of notebooks the firm is expecting to ship across North America is 14.6 million. Tablets won't out ship notebooks globally just yet.

NPD is predicting that 2015 will be the year when tablets out shipped notebook computers on a global basis. In 2015, the company is predicting 275.9 million tablets to ship compared to 270 million notebooks.
