The iPhone OS 4.0 event is just a day away, which means the rumor mill is at its most furious and dedicated. AppleInsider reports that one very likely feature that 4.0 will add is support for direct printing. There are several lines in iPad support documents and iWork apps which hint that printing will soon be supported.

It seems likely that direct printing will be one of the features of 4.0. Adding that in would give Apple a big bragging point for the iPad, and allow it to come one step closer to eliminating many people's need for a laptop. Currently, printing via iPad is a pain in the butt that must be handled over email or using the file-sharing feature in iTunes.
