Apple has adopted Intel CPUs since a couple of years now. Apple just released the new MacBook Pro with Core i7 and Core i5 CPUs. The Intel only approach of Apple might change. According to Apple Insider AMD representatives have been spotted on Apple's Commuter Coach buses and at the Apple Campus.

The new found interest in AMD is possibly triggered by supply issues with Intel. The "late" MacBook Pro update was apparently because of CPU supply issues. Additionally Apple ran into issues to continue a partnership with NVIDIA to deliver a standardized chipset for use with its Intel processors across all of its consumer computer offerings.

It will be a huge task for the Apple marketing team to make AMD CPUs cool right now, but maybe AMD has something coming that blows Intel CPUs out of the water.
