Lenovo is an unusual beast; a giant corporation with true creativity behind many of its products. The LePhone has brilliant design and (on paper at least) fantastic function. But, right now, it is only available in China. Lenovo has no presence in the US smartphone market. They may, however, be buying someone who does.

TechEye reports that the company has confirmed that they will be bidding on Palm. Earlier today we reported that this is still in rumor stage. We cannot confirm that TechEye has more information than the Reuters story we also saw earlier.
Lenovo's stock leapt up to a 23 month high at the news. A Palm sale is estimated to total as much as $1.3 billion. It would give Lenovo access to a huge number of patents, as well as an already-established American brand and distribution channel.
