Apex Digital Inc. known for its DVD Players rolls out a Game Console named ApeXtreme targeting PS2 and XBox.

Apex Digital will announce the ApeXtreme at the CES 2004 on Thursday. The box will be on the market in the spring and sell for a $399 suggested retail price, with a version selling for $299. Far more expensive than the $179 Xbox and Play-Station 2 consoles. Apex Digital says the machine will be able to do a lot more things, like playing MP3 music files and displaying videos and slide shows. Does not sound convincing to me. I guess we will see the price of this baby drop like a stone.
The ApeXtreme will include PC components from Taipei, Taiwan, chip maker Via Technologies.
