Vodafone Customers in Japan can now exchange Sha-mail with mobile users overseas.

More precisely on March 18th if you happen to live in Spain or Hong Kong and have a girl-friend or boy-friend in Japan you can exchange multimedia messages including photo and vidoe messages with your mobile phone.
The cost is 100 yen for up to 30KB/message and 200 yen for 30-100KB/message.

At least its a start for a global mobile data network. Vodafone will expand to other countries. Ideally this would work across provider and not just in the vodafone network.
