Nissin Electric launches paper fans that have embedded light emiting diodes (LEDs) that light-up when the fan is waved.
The LEDs are powered by ceramic devices that generate electricity when distorted by the motion of the fan. These devices are built into the paper fan and generate power for 19 LEDs.
Interesting low-tech way to utilize high-tech.
The paper fans go on sale end of May for 2,310yen at Nissin Electric (japanese). See also Nikkei Net (subscription).
