Because of the whole pre-order mess at AT&T everybody wants to see an iPhone 4 from Verizon Wireless. Reason enough for Digitimes (Via ZDNet) to renew their rumor from May again that Pegatron is building CDMA iPhones for Apple and will ship them in Q4.
I am actually not sure if it's fair. Verizon is supposed to have the better network, but are they also able to handle 600,000 pre-orders in 24 hours?
For me the real reason for Apple to expand to other carriers in the US (like they have done in the UK already) is market share. The iPhone 4 may be as hot as it wants, for many customers there is just no way they'll sign up with AT&T.
Apple will need to expand carrier options in the United States sooner than later to battle Android.
