The predictions on what Apple is going to say today at the iPhone 4 press conference in regards to the antenna issue are wide spread. We heard rumors about a iPhone Recall, In Store Fix with non-conductive coating and now new hope appears in a report on The New York Times (Via iClarified) that Apple indeed can fix the antenna issue with a software update.

The report refers to a person with direct knowledge of Apple's plans for today's press conference.
The iPhone 4 antenna problem is supposed to emerge from a complex interaction between specialized communication software and the antenna. The problem is long standing and not related to the already talked about display bar fix.

Of course a software fix would be the best solution for Apple and current iPhone 4 customers. We will know more later today at 10am PCT.
