Motorola's Droid 2 has been confirmed to have Android 2.2. Phandroid received several screenshots of a Verizon database that shows the new smartphone's OS as Android 2.2. Expect a launch somewhere around August 12 or August 23.

Hard specs have not yet been confirmed, but a 1 GHz processor, 512 Mb of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage have been rumored. So far, the Droid 2 is shaping up to be a worthy successor for the best-selling Android smartphone of 2009.
