Microsoft is announcing its quarterly earnings today after the market closes, which is perfect timing for some Steve Ballmer rumors. The Daily Beast has a long piece that talks about a brewing coup inside Microsoft against the current Microsoft CEO because of the poor stock performance.

If there is a brewing coup it would still not mean that this would remove Steve Ballmer from the CEO post. It is hard to say if a new CEO would dramatically change Microsoft. Microsoft is huge and therefore not very agile.
I would be very surprised if Steve Ballmer would not host the Microsoft Keynote at the CES 2011.
