Truly FT602 Pic'n Roll MP3 Player Review

The Truly FT602 does sound great with the BBE (Background Block Error, which restores lost or distorted MP3 signals). Those special MP3 favorites you have never sounded so good. The digital display and controls allows you to set the sound precisely how you would like to hear it. The sub menu for the equalizer (EQ) has many features and, unlike the human voice, you can “tweak” it to your tastes. The FM tuner with auto-scan modes picks up stations of varying strength; there are also 20 preset slots. The player includes voice, FM, and line-in recording (a cable is supplied). You can read eBooks on the FT602, and it also supports a decent array of audio (MP3, WAV, OGG, and WMA) and photo (JPEG, BMP, GIF) formats. Battery life is approximately 10 hours. Bass and treble were very impressive with little or no distortion via the FM tuner or MP3 melodies played. Of course, a great pair of headphones enhances the sound reproduction exponentially.

The display is another plus. It’s 2/3 of the player’s front. Everything you need is presented in a bright, colorful (262K colors), 1.8” TFT LCD display, which is a large screen for a small player. The Truly FT602 fills your optic intake with a high-resolution display by displaying a plethora of information in the standard music screen. The display includes a real time clock, which is also a nice feature. The FT602 is available in Titanium gray/pink, made of metal with the controls conveniently located on the front of the unit. They include a centralized five-way control pad. The control pad navigates menu options, and controls content playback and volume. Two other buttons are located on the lower left and right of the unit, which operate an escape (ESC) and contextual menu key. At the top of the unit sits a jack for headphones and one for a power cord. The bottom portion contains the USB port for connection to USB sources and acts the receptacle for the included USB power cord. On the right side is the on/off button, record/EQ and A/B buttons. The left reveals a sensitive in-unit microphone (mic) sensor, lock/unlock unit buttons and reset (haven’t utilized that yet).

Pushing the center control pad shows you the title, artist, album, genre, MP3 song speed, volume level, song length, timer, battery life, EQ and list of songs. Scroll down, select your song and begin your listening experience while tantalizing your visual core. Next up is the game menu, which is preloaded with “Push Box”, “Tetris” and “Escape”. Great to play and allows you to download additional games you enjoy. If you love your FM radio, simply find the station you want and use the presets for memory in the future. The record feature worked very well and was very crisp although I don’t really like the sound of my own voice.

Truly FT602 package contents

The Truly FT602 is prepackaged with the unit itself, a very nice pair of white ear bud headphones, stereo minijack, USB power cord, a soft velour carrying pouch (a carrying case would have been nice), quick startup guide, instructions, CD-ROM disc containing FT602 software, drivers and included manual.

The unit received performed flawlessly and effortlessly with very easy to navigate functionality. It is relieving to know the product performs as advertised each and every time you access it and with great precision.
