Sharp announced today a dual view LCD display we reported about earlier. Sharp also announced a more useful application of the display for mobile devices.

The dual view display can be configured to only allow owners of a PDA for instance to see what is on the screen when looking at it straight. Bystanders would see something else. As it is configurable what the is displayed from an angle this could be fun. The screen could say "If you can read this, you are to close", like those car bumper stickers.
More details in this Sharp press-release (Japanese).

The privacy angle display also can find applications in ATMs or other terminals that display personal information.
