Hurting Sony apparently makes a smart move by enhancing the partnership with the much more successful "enemy" Samsung.

The numbers say it all: Sony's 2004 revenue was $72 billion with net profits of only 851 millions. Samsung's revenue was $55 billion, but they had $10.3 billion net profits. Samsung's market cap is more than twice that of Sony.

Sony and Samsung already jointly invested $2 billion in South Korea to manufacture LCD displays and are partners in the blu-ray organization. The partnership is not new, but is growing bigger and bigger.

Sony really just shines in the gaming sector. The Sony PSP is hot and the Sony PS3 promises to be ultra-hot.
