At the Intel Developer Conference, Intel's CEO Paul Otellini, called for "performance per watt" to be the new metric to replace gigahertz.

For instance will the new Merom be a 64-bit, dual-core processor, it will be three times more power efficient than the first Pentium M chips that debuted in 2003.
