The Showing Beacon is one of those gadget inventions that can only be found in America.

The Showing Beacon is a small, wireless device that communicates with a base unit plugged into any phone jack in the seller's home. After a showing, the "showing agent" pushes the red button on top of the Beacon. The device sends a signal to the base which then dials a central system to notify the current owner on his cell phone. The Showing Beacon sells for $79.95, plus an ongoing fee of either $40 for a listing plan or $99 for an annual plan.
