Last week we took a look at a waterproof keyboard called the Really Cool Keyboard that was aimed at medical office users or any environment where water or liquids was an issue. Today we are going to look at the Mighty Mouse 5 waterproof mouse that is designed to go along with the waterproof keyboards. Read on for all the details on the Mighty Mouse 5.
Features & Specifications
The Mighty Mouse 5 is sized very similarly to most other standard size mic eon the market. The mouse measures 5” x 2.5” x 1.3” and weighs 0.3 pounds. The Mighty Mouse 5 connects to your PC via a 6-foot USB cable and requires no software to operate. The mouse is covered in 100% silicone rubber and is 100% latex free.
In Use
The Mighty Mouse 5 feels just like any other mouse in the hand. It’s sized well and comfortable to use for either right or left handed users. The mouse has five buttons total including a normal right and left mouse button plus buttons for scroll up and down and a middle mouse button. The silicone covering gives the mouse its waterproof feature and feels soft in the hand. The silicon covering also allows for very good grip on the mouse even if your hands are damp.
Like the Really Cool Keyboard, the main feature of the Mighty Mouse 5 is that it can be sanitized. The manufacturer says that it can be cleaned with many different solutions including soap and water, alcohol, phenol based solutions and much more.
Gamers used to mice with 1000 dpi or more of sensitivity may feel that the mouse is too slow. While the manufacturer doesn’t specify, from using the Mighty Mouse 5 I would say it has an 800 dpi resolution. For the average everyday computer user the Mighty Mouse 5 will offer plenty of sensitivity.
Accuracy with the mouse is very good. I am used to a scroll wheel on my mouse so having buttons instead is odd at first, but that is something you can get used too quickly without issue. The mouse is optical not laser based and it can be cleaned with CIDEX, a common agent in medical environments.
Overall, the Mighty Mouse 5 is very good and the added ability to sterilize the mouse to prevent germs from causing illness and the waterproof design this may be the perfect general use mouse in a shared computer setting.
Pros
Cons
Verdict
In the end there is little to not like about the Mighty Mouse 5. It has plenty of buttons for most needs and can be cleaned. The mouse will also perform fine in moist environment. The Mighty Mouse 5 is a great mouse for the medical office or where liquids are an issue.
