Yesterday we had a look at the Griffin Wave for iPhone case and found it to be fantastic. Today we are going to check out another case for the iPhone from Griffin called the Griffin Elan Form for iPhone. If you prefer a leather case for your phone check out the Griffin Elan Form for iPhone.
Features
The Griffin Elan Form for iPhone is a hard case made from polycarbonate that surrounds and protects your phone. The polycarbonate is then covered in top-grain leather on the outside with black stitching. The case also includes a thin static peel screen protector that helps prevent scratches on the screen. A cleaning cloth to keep the screen protector smudge free is included as well.
Installation and Use
Installing the case on your iPhone is easy. You peel the back off the screen protector and apply it to the screen. If you prefer not to use the screen protector, you can skip that step. The case pulls apart and once you insert your iPhone, it snaps back together to form a strong seal protecting the iPhone.
With the polycarbonate shell and then leather on top of that, the Griffin Elan Form for iPhone is significantly thicker than the Wave case we looked at yesterday. The thickness of the case and leather is much more uncomfortable than the Wave case. I found that the edges of the case put pressure on my ears and face that were particularly bothersome on long calls.
Other than the thick edges, the rest of the Griffin Elan Form for iPhone works well. The controls and ports on the iPhone are not blocked and can still be used. The phone can’t dock in the original charging dock with the case in place, but the charge cable itself will reach.
The screen protector allows the touchscreen to function normally and protects it from scratches. A cleaning cloth is included to keep smudges and fingerprints off the screen protector. The feel of the screen is changed a bit compared to the screen without a protector, but the change in feel is well worth the protection offered.
Pros
Cons
Verdict
The Griffin Elan Form for iPhone works well and looks good for those wanting a leather case. However, the thickness of the case edge does make for some discomfort with extended use.
