Today I am looking at the Insignia 8-inch LCD digital photo frame model number NS-DPF8TR. The digital photo frame is a Best Buy brand with a large screen and support for audio, video, and still images. Digital photo frames are great gift ideas and if you are shopping for a new frame for someone on your Christmas list the Insignia 8-inch LCD digital photo frame may be exactly what you need.
Specifications
The Insignia 8-inch LCD digital photo frame has an 8-inch screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 800 x 600. The screen has a 500:1 contrast ratio and a brightness of 250 cd/m2. Internal storage is 1GB and the frame has a memory card reader built-in. A remote is included with the frame.
In Use
The Insignia 8-inch LCD digital photo frame is a nice size frame with an 8-inch screen. The image quality is superb with bright and vivid colors and fantastic contrast. Images are not overly bright and look as good as quality printed images when viewed on the screen.
The frame is packed with all sorts of nice features of the price point. The frame supports scheduling so you can have the frame turn itself off at specific times and then turn itself back on when you want it to. This is a very important feature if you are using the frame in a bedroom where it might keep you up at night.
The frame will automatically rotate images and has red-eye reduction built in. The device also has face detection built-in so when doing slideshows it will automatically zoom in on faces. The 1GB of internal storage is enough to store several pictures and it can read images directly from memory cards.
Many digital frames can’t read SDHC cards, but they are supported by the Insignia 8-inch LCD digital photo frame. The device comes with two frames. One is a silver metal frame with a white mat and a black wood frame and a black mat ships with the device as well. The metal frame is very nice looking and makes the Insignia 8-inch LCD digital photo frame look like a normal photo frame.
The setup of the Insignia 8-inch LCD digital photo frame is dead simple. All you need to do is unpack the frame, plug it in, and plug a memory card into the reader. The images automatically start showing on the screen. A USB port on the rear of the frame allows it to show images directly from flash drives and a mini USB port is available as well.
The Insignia 8-inch LCD digital photo frame is hands down one of the best digital photo frames that I have tested. It lacks the fancy WiFi connectivity of the CEIVA frame that I reviewed recently, but more than makes up for it with a lower price and fantastic image quality. This frame will make a fantastic holiday gift.

Cons
Verdict
The Insignia 8-inch LCD digital photo frame is easily one of the best digital photo frames that I have tested. The frame has fantastic image quality and lots of features at a good price.
