Today I am looking at the iLocket winding case for your iPod and iPhone earphones. The little device aims to answer the problem many users have with excess cord. If you like to wear your earphones while you are working out, the iLocket maybe the perfect accessory for you.
Specifications
The iLocket is made from a plastic material sort of like the medication containers that some people use to keep track of all the pills for a day. The device weighs only a few grams and has a clip to stick it to your shirt.
In Use
The first time I saw the iLocket I thought it was cool. The little thing would be the perfect device to fix the issue I have at the gym with too much headphone cable getting caught on things. I used to wear earbuds when I work out so I could listen to music. The problem was that when I was standing up, sitting down, and moving around the gym using the equipment the extra cord often got hung on stuff.
I frequently pulled the earbuds out of my ears or pulled the iPhone out of my pocket when the cable got caught. I eventually just stopped wearing the earphones to eliminate the issue. The iLocket is a simple plastic device that has two covered sections. Inside the larger covered section is a winding wheel and a slot where you can clip your earphone cable.
The slot firmly holds the earphone cable and keeps it from slipping around. Using the winding wheel, you can adjust the earphone cable to exactly the length you need for freedom of movement without having issues with a cord that is too short or too long. Once you get the cable wrapped to the length you want, you shut the lid to the main compartment and then shut the lid to the smaller forward compartment to provide extra support for the cable.
The thing works just as you want it to and the clip that holds the iLocket to your shirt fits snugly as well, even on thin, breathable materials workout clothes tend to be made from. The clip is a bit of a challenge to get onto your shirt, but if it were any looser, the iLocket would slide off.
The only downside I see to the iLocket is that the little plastic flaps that clip the main compartment and secondary compartment down are rather thin. I worry that if you have to open and close the lid frequently the flaps will eventually break off. The good news if this happens is that the iLocket is dirt cheap at $5.64 with shipping.

Cons
Verdict
The iLocket is an ingenious little device that will solve the problem many people have in the gym with excess earphone cord. The iLocket is cheap and works very well.
