Intel’s CEO Paul Otellini is seen holding a silicon wafer with the prototype chips in the image to the left. Intel claims that 80 core chips will be commercially available in the next 5 years.The 80 core monster is said to be able to exchange data at a whopping one terabyte per second. Each of the 80 cores is running at 3.16 GHz and Intel plans to use an on-chip interconnect fabric and stacked SRAM.
