Reuters just runs a report that Sony slashed its annual profit forecast by 62% because of heavy costs for recalls of its laptop PC batteries.
Sony also recalls notebook batteries for its own VIAO notebooks. Was already wondering, why Sony's own use of batteries would have no issues. (Subscription).
Currently Sony plans to recall 90,000 VAIO notebooks in Japan and China. Other markets likely to follow soon. More details on Nikkei
Sony also mentions slow PSP sales and the price-cut for the Sony PS3 in Japan as additional reasons for the bad profit outlook for 2007. More Sony News.
