Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950 Review

Watching TV on your PC is a great way to save some space in a crowded room or dorm at college. Hauppauge has a decent USB TV tuner called the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950 that only requires a single USB 2.0 port to function.

If you travel, frequently this USB tuner and your laptop could keep you from hours of boredom thanks to the included ATSC HD antenna. Picture quality isn’t tops with coax input sources, but with over-the-air inputs it is great.Review excerpt: "You must have a vacant USB 2.0 port for the WinTV-HVR-950 to work; it will not function on a USB 1.1 port. Hauppauge also included an antenna that will allow you to pick up ATSC HD over-the-air HD TV signals on your PC. The antenna is small at about six inches high and has a magnetic base to secure to metal surfaces. The HD receiver portion allows you receive HD signals in up to 1080i format. You can also connect your cable or antenna to the WinTV-HVR-950 to watch normal programming as well." Read the full review here.
