To my surprise the Microsoft Zune music player was at the 2nd place in the music player sales rank in the first week after launch. Now the Zune player is on 5th place according to market researcher NPD Group Inc.
Zune has a 2.1% market share in the week ending 11/25. Apparently Sandisk is now on second place because of 50% price-cuts holding a 39% share. More details in this report on Bloomberg.
Speaking of Sandisk price-cuts. A Sandisk Sansa e260 with 4GB is currently selling for $144.95.
Not a bad deal when comparing to a 4GB Apple iPod nano, which sells for $189.99
