Monsoon Multimedia challenges Sling Media with new low-cost HAVA Gold HD Time- and Place-Shifting device with high definition support.

The standard price of the HAVA Gold HD is $129. Right now until end of January you can get this device for $99 with CES30 discount code.

The Monsoon HAVA Gold HD is the company's new low-end place-shifting device. Similar to Sling media Monsoon offers several different devices with PVR and place-shifting capabilities.

Features of the HAVA Gold HD include 1080i, 720p, 480p/576p video resolution support, streams MPEG-2 format over the home network, MPEG-4 format over the Internet, PVR functionality on PC and Windows XP Media Center Edition integration.Visit Monsoon's e-tailing division Snappy Multimedia site to purchase.
Monsoon also aims to sell their solutions through OEM partners. As their boxes are ugly, there is a good chance for an OEM to sell nice looking boxes based on the Monsoon technology.
