Japanese newspaper The Nikkei Friday morning edition reports that Sony's operating profit for fiscal year 2007 ending in March 2008 would surge over 500% compared to 2006.
The newspaper cites LCD TV and Playstation 3 sales as the reason for the dramatic profit rise.
The newspaper continues saying if the PS3 sales are sluggish and the U.S. economic is slowing down paired with a strong yen could be hurting Sony in 2007.
Despite a flat Nikkei, Sony's stock rose over 5% based on the report.
