German Tuning company ABT made a fast car even faster; a feat that seems so much easier than making a car use less fuel.

The already stunning Audi R8 sports car gets an even sportier look from Abt and increases the power from 420 hp to 530 hp.
The all-wheel-drive Audi R8 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9s and reaches a top speed of 317 km/h.
The base price of the Audi R8 is €104.400 (~(~$132,000) in Germany. It is shipping this summer. The Abt Audi R8 will come this autumn and will debut at the IAA Frankfurt in September.
More details and photos of the Abt Audi R8 are available on the Abt site.
I already wrote about the idea of car tuning companies focusing on making a of the shelf car more fuel efficient instead of more powerful in the BMW M3 story the other day.
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has a Hydrogen (see this Forbes article from 2005) and a Biofuel Hummer. Arnold Schwarzenegger has actually hooked up with MTV's Pimp My Ride and there will be an episode where the crew is converting a 1965 Chevy Impala into a mean, clean and green biofuel powered car.
The episode will air on Earth Day (April 22nd, 1pm ET/PT).
Cars are a status symbol and a object of desire. People want cool cars, but I think we are at the point where it’s clear that we need to reduce green house gases. So instead of getting another 100 hp out of the engine, try to see if you can triple the mileage on a sports car like the R8.
Of course cars are just one of the aspects where we can reduce them. There are many other areas that need work too.
Also tomorrow is National Day of Climate Action. The message of the organization is: "Step it up, Congress! Cut Carbon 80% by 2050." Join them here.
