I can’t say that I have ever played a game of badminton and the only time I have seen it played was watching American Chopper. At any rate if you are a badminton fan, but want to make the game a bit more extreme Hammacher Schlemmer has your set.
Speedminton uses the same concepts as badminton, but doesn’t use a net. The shuttlecocks are aerodynamic and heavier than standard badminton shuttlecocks and are able to travel at up to 189MPH. That’s fast; I’d hate to take on of those shuttlecocks to the face or groin.
The Speedminton kit consists of two aluminum rackets with a 26-pound string tension, three different shuttlecocks, rings for stabilizing the shuttlecocks in light winds and eight cones for making court boundaries plus a bag to hold all the gear. They even throw in some shuttlecock light rings for night play. Man, Speedminton sounds really perverted. Via Hammacher Schlemmer
