Mobile workers need web access often as much as they need a notebook to work on the road. WiFi hot spots can be hard to find in some areas and are not always the most convenient form of connecting online.
Sprint has a nice EV-DO modem called the Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 that runs from the USB port of your computer. Speeds in EV-DO Rev A areas are fantastic, but if you are in areas not served by Rev A speeds, the connection is very slow.
Review excerpt: “Setting the Sprint Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 up requires the installation of the mobile broadband software and two vacant USB ports. The modem can operate from one USB port, but there may not be enough power for full speeds.” Read the full Sprint Novatel Wireless Ovation U720 EV-DO Modem Review here.
