Mattel has made a statement that most toy recalls are not the chinese manufacturers fault and actually design flaws.
Since the recalls Chinese products have been under scrutiny and the image of "Made in China" has been damaged quite a bit.
During talks in Beijing, a senior Mattel executive apologized for the damage that the toy recalls had caused.
I think it is a bit late for these apologies. Mattel could have said this already weeks ago to prevent the damage. I assume there is some political power play behind the scenes that triggered this move by Mattel.
