Onkyo has announced a new home theater in a box system that uses the new HDMI v1.3 specifications. The system is a full 7.1 surround sound home theater that includes a DVD player that upconverts to full 1080p.

The HT-SP908 system uses the Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver that processes HD video and audio. The receiver includes two HDMI v1.3 inputs and one output and uses DeepColor technology.

Audio formats the receiver can decode include Dolby digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS HD Master Audio. The receiver is also both Sirius and XM satellite radio ready. The Onkyo DS-A1X Remote Interactive control dock for iPod is included in the system. Speakers for the system each have a pair of 3-1/8 inch cone woofers and a 1-inch balanced dome tweeter. The sub is a 230-watt powered design with a 10-inch cone driver. Pricing for the system is downright affordable considering all that you get at $1099.
