The Nokia World conference is held today and the Finnish Mobile phone company has a slew of announcements. One of them is the introduction of a very cool deal that will give other mobile phone companies a slight headache.
Nokia announced Nokia Comes With Music, a program that enables you to buy a Nokia phone with a year of unlimited access to millions of songs. Once the year is complete, you can keep all your music without having to worry about it disappearing when your subscription is over.
Assuming the music catalog is not just consisting of rock from the 80s this is a very hot offer and definitely will push music fans towards a Nokia music phone unless Sony, LG, Apple and Samsung will offer something similar.
We set out to create the music experience that people are telling us they are looking for - all the music they want in the form of unlimited downloads to their mobile device and PC," said Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Multimedia, Nokia. "Even if you listened to music 24 hours a day, seven days a week, you would still only scratch the surface of the music that we're making available. Comes with Music fulfils our dream to give consumers all the music they want, wherever they want it, while rewarding the artists who create it."
The Nokia Comes With Music will launch with Universal Music Group International, and Nokia is in discussion with the remaining major international labels says the press-release. This statement is a bit concerning as it looks Nokia is not ready yet to actually offer what they promise here.
